Struggle vs. Victory (Slice of Life: Day 25)

A reverso is a poem with two halves. In a reverso, the second half reverses the lines from the first half, with changes only in punctuation and capitalization — and it has to say something completely different from the first half.

What a mountain
of emotions!
Feeling overwhelmed
from the aches and pains.
Is the finish
The end?
One foot in front of the other
Keep going…
I know I can
feel the burn of the cold.
My body is unable to
keep up.
The defeated can
be left behind.
Be left behind?
The defeated can
keep up!
My body is unable to
feel the burn of the cold.
I know I can
keep going.
One foot in front of the other.
The end
is the finish
from the aches and pains.
Feeling overwhelmed
of emotions.
What a mountain!

  1. Unfreakingbelievable.

    Makes my head hurt.

I’ve been waiting all month for another reverso. This does not disappoint! I think there’s one mistake: “finish line” should just be “finish” in the first poem.

I keep re-reading it. Ahhhhhh!!! Mind bender!!!
