Saying goodbye before saying hello…

Today should be marking my first month in Japan. Yet here I am in Colorado, checking the news and praying for those in Northern Japan without homes and lost family members. As many of us learn, sometimes the decisions in our lives are made for us. Little did I know that days before my trip to Japan, the country would be hit with a total of three disasters. Earthquake. Tsunami. Nuclear plant explosions. It was a shock to the world.

As much I as hoped for the situation to improve, the current status of the nuclear plant, 30 miles from Koriyama, continues to be an uncertain danger. Keeping my long-term health in mind, I’ve put my year in Japan aside, with hopes of one day making it there when the time is right.

Please keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers.  If you’d like to help with relief efforts, please visit Red Cross at http://american.redcross.org
